About The Author
Originating from the dynamic city of Chicago, Illinois, Joelena is an ex-vocalist and former recording artist. Her career flourished with a recording deal with Qwest Records and management by Blackground Music, immersing her in a world brimming with creativity and artistic expression.
In 2002, the birth of her daughters inspired Joelena to channel her artistic skills into writing. She authored a heartfelt and imaginative book called Nani and The Magic Quilt, a name inspired by her daughter Nadia’s endearing mispronunciation of her own name as “Nani.” The inaugural series, “The Princess and The Castle,” draws inspiration from her youngest daughter, Natahlia.
Joelena established ChiGirl Publishing to bring her vision and subsequent works to fruition. This initiative signifies the start of an enchanting book series that delves into the adventures of Nani’s ancestors, crafting rich historical and cultural narratives that celebrate the family’s distinct heritage.
